ET352 · Converting Electrical Signals

Converting Electrical Signals

A comprehensive course package for the ET platform: hands-on exploration of signal conversion using industrial-standard circuits. This unified module features three distinct experiment cards, powered and monitored by the ET300 base system, complete with guided multimedia courseware for the study of data transmission and signal processing.
Experiments
  • Frequency Converters: Conversion of analog DC voltages into proportional frequency pulse trains (V/F) and back to analog (F/V), focusing on noise immunity
  • Current Converters: Translation of standard analog voltages to 4-20mA current loops (V/I) and back (I/V) for long-distance industrial sensing
  • Rectifiers: Full-wave rectification of AC signals using standard diode bridges and precision active rectifiers to eliminate diode voltage drops
ET352 Signal Conversion experiment cards
Description
The platform teaches the fundamentals of converting electrical signals through guided, hands-on experiments.
  • The Frequency Converter Card utilizes precision integrated circuits to demonstrate the advantages of frequency modulation for noise-immune data transmission.
  • The Current Converter Card explores 4-20mA industrial instrumentation standards, highlighting the advantages of current over voltage for long-distance factory automation.
  • The Rectifiers Card provides both a standard full-wave bridge and a precision active rectifier, allowing students to observe AC-to-DC conversion and signal demodulation.
  • Accessible measuring points on all cards expose the raw inputs and outputs of each circuit, which are driven and acquired by the base system's virtual instruments.
Courseware
The interactive multimedia course combines theory with guided experiments: voltage-to-frequency linearity, 4-20mA loop impedance calculations, and the operational amplifier's role in precision rectification. Student answers are evaluated automatically, and the full course—at least 12 hours of directed instruction (4 hours per card)—is available with multi-language support.
