KD712 · Roller Bearing Faults

Roller bearing faults experiment - condition monitoring via vibration analysis

Experiments
  • Vibration spectrum of the running noise of a roller bearing
  • Envelope analysis - isolating high-frequency shock signatures of bearing damage
  • Influence of damage to outer race, inner race and rolling element on the spectrum
  • Identification of a combined-damage bearing and of a long-running (worn) bearing
  • Estimating remaining service life of roller bearings
  • Influence of lubricant type and quantity on the vibration signature
  • Radial loading via the belt drive KD714
  • Works together with the KD700 base unit
KD712
Description
Vibration analysis is the standard non-intrusive technique for assessing the condition of a rolling bearing. The KD712 experiment provides six bearings - one new reference and five with targeted damage types - that the student mounts, in turn, in the provided bearing block and loads radially through the KD714 belt drive. Using envelope analysis, the characteristic frequencies of each defect can be identified in the spectrum.
