ST505 · Concentrated Load

Smart single-load module for loading bridges and beams on the ST500 frame

A set of five instrumented point-loads that snap onto the roadway of a bridge or beam experiment. Each load carries an electronic module that reports its own position - encoded as a 4-bit binary (Gray) code along the roadway - and its applied force to the ST500 host software. Individual loads can be placed freely or combined, and in software they can be stepped along the roadway to emulate a moving load - a natural route into influence-line analysis of bridges and continuous beams.
ST505 - Concentrated load module
Features
  • Five instrumented point-loads - used singly or in combination
  • Each load reports its own position along the roadway via a 4-bit Gray-code reader
  • Position shown directly on the load; force shown in the Sangari software
  • Snap-in mounting - no cabling, no configuration
  • Combine with ST506 line load for mixed single/distributed loading
  • Moving-load demonstrations in software: step the set along the roadway to trace influence lines
Compatible experiments
  • ST552 - suspension bridge
  • ST553 - parabolic arch bridge
  • ST554 - three-hinged arch
  • ST555 - Gerber (cantilever) beam
