ET511 · PLC and HMI Programming

Experimental Apparatus for the Study of PLC and HMI Programming

A modular apparatus for the study of programmable logic controllers and operator panels. Students wire a PLC and an HMI touch panel with safety leads to push-buttons and switches, a limit switch, a PT100 sensor, light and wind sensors, contactors, indicator lights and three 230 V wall lights. They write the control program in ladder diagram, set up the Ethernet network and build the operator screens.
Description
The ET511 is built from panel modules on a mobile frame with a single-phase power console. An emergency stop module and a 230 V AC distribution module with a 30 mA / 16 A residual current circuit breaker protect the installation, and a power supply module gives 24 V DC. The PLC module and the HMI module talk to each other and to the programming PC over Ethernet. The sensors, the signal generator, the 230 V dimmer with its 4-20 mA input, the contactors and the lights all come out on 4 mm safety sockets, so students study analogue signals both as current and as voltage.
